istoric

The '70s meant for the canine field the years of standardization, certification and registry of the variety of breeds for becoming utilitarian.

Then in the '80s, it was all about the training and education of the dogs in different specialty and subcategories. From 1984 until1986, at the demand of the National Defence Department- Romanian Civil Defence and Mountain Rescue Association, it began, in an organized and recognized society, the training of the first civil teams in Craiova, Romania, with specialised dogs in disasters and avalanches.

In the mean time, because of catastrophic phenomena and natural disasters, whose number has grown up in the whole world, in the '90s, the canine side of the problem, with the solution of bringing about one canine unit which can help not a single person, but the whole humanity, was questioned.

Moreover, in 1996, the Craiova Centre set up the unit named "Rescue Dog" (by this we understand a dog who can rescue any survivor caught in a rubble area, in a disaster or a flood, in toxic areas or fire hazards, mountain rescue and water rescue), respecting the international working rules for search and rescue dogs of FCI, and international standards for emergency.

By 1996, this institution has been constantly invited in real actions, emergency situations, national and international search-rescue situations with the support of NATO, INSARAG, UE, IRO, the Red Cross, PRC, IGSU etc. By 2000, Craiova Centre represented our country in the IRO (International Rescue Dog Organization). Today, we are proud of being members, partners and even co-workers for many national rescue organizations.
